Greetings brethren,

The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Behold, the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.” The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He found first his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah!”  (John 1:29, 33, 37, 40, 41)

Not yesterday, not today, but wasn’t the next day special for John the Baptist? After who knows how many messages he preached, and how many people he baptized day after day, the next day the Lamb of God appeared. See it friend, the willing servant standing face to face with His Christ, the very lamb he announced was coming was sharing all of heaven with him that very moment. What a picture, what an experience! Does this happen to just anyone? No! John was called to prepare the way and baptize with water and he obeyed that commission. Faith and a willingness to serve God’s call brought John to that blessed moment in time!

What a day it was for Andrew as well. With patience and diligent watching and listening, Andrew also got to meet Christ face to face. Andrew found Christ because he was in a position to find Him. He made it his business to witness the baptisms and take in the messages from John. He became John’s disciple and made the choice to also be about the Lord’s business. In order to find something, one must search! Andrew searched for Christ through scripture, through the preaching of John the Baptist, and by hanging around folks turning away from their sins. Andrew found Christ because he watched and waited with complete faith in His arrival day by day.

Have you met Christ? Would you like to? God tells us if we look for Him we will find Him. Christ is coming again! I suggest like Andrew we make the choice to watch and wait with complete belief that He will soon arrive! Make the choice today to let God work through you and put you in position to meet the One who will change your life forever!

Can you imagine a better message to deliver to your friends and loved ones than this, “We have found the Messiah!”

Christ’s peace New Hope,

Pastor, Jim
